This season, we're deeply grateful. Because of you, Southside ReLeaf has grown stronger than ever.
This past year, your passion and support helped us:
- Onboard a new city park at Ernest Road, expanding accessible green space in a neighborhood that didn’t have any.
- Complete Blackwell Park’s “glow-up,” giving the community access to a new community garden, walking trail, tree plantings, and other sustainable upgrades.
- Launch two powerful community science campaigns to monitor neighborhood flooding and air quality.
- Kick off our collaborative Cool the City campaign to address the impacts of extreme heat and flooding in Richmond’s neighborhoods that need it most.
- Host our first-ever Roots to Roofs summit with state leaders, housing experts, and environmental advocates coming together to co-create policy recommendations for affordable and safe housing surrounded by healthy green spaces.
- Train our first cohort of Tree Ambassadors — passionate community members committed to nurturing and advocating for our urban forest.
- Mobilize more than 200 volunteers to plant over 1,000 trees and shrubs at schools and parks across the Southside.
